Vegetable Ramen Noodles Soup

Even before I thought of posting a round up of my failed recipes, I posted an attempt at Ramen that was a failure. Following my friend’s advice, Lynn from BreadOnButter, I approached the Ramen again last year with a fair success. Yet, it was nighttime and it didn’t look photogenic enough for a post. Lynn’s recipe used bok choy, so I bought one and used the leaves for the Ramen. I also trimmed off the bottom and left it to sprout, giving nice green leaves again. But the weather was warm, so the sprout gave a shoot which gave flowers that turned into seeds. Now I have bok choy seeds to plant! Let’s hope they work.
This year, I’m craving Asian flavors like crazy, and the texture of noodles. You might as well throw me in a pool of noodles with soy sauce and sesame oil fountains and call it Christmas!

All Protein Vegan Soup

We are finally witnessing some wet action in Lebanon. Yes. It’s raining.

When we were children, we used to make up stories about the rain; God is watering the plants, God is washing the floor, God is bathing, or God is peeing. It’s a beautiful thing a child’s imagination but few are able to hold on to it as adults. Don’t you wish you never grew up? It’s a trap.

If it were for children to cook, except for those on Top Chef Junior, they would dump everything in one pot and it’s done. Or was that my sister’s concept of cooking?

Ramen soup attempt and Jaï

 Reading this article had made me want to try this Ramen soup. Sadly, I don’t think there is any restaurant or a kiosk that serves this type of Asian specialty.

 To my excitement, Mike and I had an Asian restaurant to try. I know it’s been there for almost a year, but I didn’t get the chance to try it. Jaï. (give the man some love on his facebook page)

 Jaï is located at the beginning of Hamra Street. It’s not practically a restaurant; it has only one table, as they work mainly for takeaways and home deliveries. What’s wonderful is sharing this only table with people you might meet there. This happened in front of us. The 2 groups of 4 left with a wide smile on their faces.
After a talk with the chef and owner about the type of business he’s running and about the food, its freshness, quality and flavors, he helped us choose some good items from the generous menu.

Those cosy nights with a blanket, soup and a warm drink to keep you warm. It’s entertaining to listen to the sound of rain droplets tumbling down the roofs and the messing neighborhoods too. Don’t you love this season too?
