The Spill: Pandemic in Lebanon Edition

I cannot pretend now that we are not in a pandemic no matter how much I try to avoid and ignore it.
A big part of the world is on lockdown and living in stress due to home captivity and the looming dangers of the virus. While in Lebanon, we are blessed with an incompetent government that failed (not only now,… it is an ongoing series of failures that were somehow hidden for over 30 years) to provide a decent living for its citizens, with a pandemic/crisis or without.

Now, it’s been a little over 2 months since the unofficial state of emergency and lockdown in action. I was in Amman-Jordan in the beginning of March for a workshop and came back on March 11th on the last flight from Amman before stopping all flights to and from Beirut. We didn’t expect this to happen. I was sort of considering skipping the flight and staying in Amman, but since it is been 2 months and we’ve seen barely any changes, I am glad I didn’t. The Spill

The Spill is back, but  I won’t be sharing a finger-licking photo like I usually do. You might be licking yours 😜

More than a week ago, I shared a small story on my Instagram about when a person in the online food-sphere gave me a remark about my weight gain upon seeing me after a long time. The comment I shared on the instagram story was that it is NOT OK to ask such a question to someone in the food world, especially when said in the condescending way he said it.
My reply in person was, “I eat, don’t we all in this field?”
I wouldn’t comment on their weight, or their double chin, because bodies change and we’re all going through things that sometimes a few of kilos are inevitable. Except for those “foodies” who take a picture of the food, and possibly a bite for the camera, then throw the rest away, followed by a DETOX post the day after.

The SP!LL

Here we are again!
Another week and another spill.

I’ve decided to take another hiatus for no specific reason and come back after it with tons of things I want to share. Wendy Williams got nothing on me!

But before I leave, I have important news I have to share with you.
I have decided to become vegan. I am finally illuminated by the posts vegans share of cute animals asking us not to eat them. I am going to delete all the meat recipes from the blog and remove meat photos from Instagram

I have decided to join a gym and get my summer body ready for some sun, sand, salt water, and the eyes of those hungry for this vegan meat!

I will be living off juices and smoothies. No solid food for 4 days a week. Coffee is out of sight. Also, alcohol would be off the menu. No alcohol, no partying, no socializing and outings to cut down the temptations. Yes, it is a month of major changes!

  • It is a late spill today because my body is trying to procrastinate and prevent me from writing the spill I want to share.
So I am obliging and listening to my body and postponing the heavy spill for next week where I’ll hopefully have more time to write it properly.
  • Speaking of procrastination, do you also feel that you leave important things till the last minute and only do it because you have to?
I do. I did almost all my life. Continue reading “The Spill” →

The Spill

WARNING: This week’s spill is serious.
It is something from a list of things I want to address and an incident happened online and I felt I should be writing something.

This post is against bullying.
Bear with me

I believe bullying is unacceptable.
We should teach those we have an influence on to be kind and not to be bullies. At the same time, we have to teach them to grow thick skin to face the remaining bullies in this world.
The world will not be bullying-free (I don’t think it will happen soon), but at least we can be prepared to face it and keep going. That’s what we get from stories from successful people who faced bullies at some point in their life.
This isn’t addressed at children only. The online community (of adults) can be pretty savage sometimes. We have to learn to let it slide like water off a duck’s back than get the best of us.
