My 33rd Birthday Apple Molasses Cake

New year new me. Starting the year with loads of bullshit! 😂

The year of pretending ended with 2020 and with the new decade, we are about to get real 😂

To cut it short, this year is the birthday I spend with the least amount of people around me. Yes. Quarantine and a lockdown in Beirut. I am not mad. I actually had a relaxing breakfast and coffee followed by my tradition of baking a birthday cake for myself.

Chia Pudding with Strawberries and Pomegranates

How many of you are into superfoods?

How many of you look up superfood recipes online dreaming of getting all this goodness and instantly becoming “healthy” after swiping that credit card to fill your trunk?

It’s not like that darling.
Having a cupboard full of chia seeds, flaxseeds, oats, maple syrup, agave, olive oil, quinoa, and kale doesn’t turn you into a fitness guru and doesn’t make you healthier.
We can see the rings around your belly; Your donut.

I see you storing those in the kitchen and lashing out on a jar of that hazelnut spread crap you all like. Oh yes I did! Sue me!!!

Drop it where it is and take this jar instead Continue reading

Sugar-free Roasted Apple Butter and EatTheLebaneseSeason

You know when you haven’t talked to someone for a while? They haven’t talked back either and you have no idea how to start a conversation again? I am having this with my baby blog. It’s been a while. It feels so wrong having all these recipes and gorgeous photos I took stored in folders as time passes. But here I am again, publishing a post after a week of behind the scene conversation to prepare for something fun. A fellow cook (@thekitchenbabe) and I decided to gather a few cooks on instagram and start posting recipes we cook and photograph according to what’s in season.

Apple WEEK - cookin5m2.jpgsugar-free-roasted-apple-butter-recipes-cookin5m2-2

#EatTheLebaneseSeason is the account and hashtag we decided to use to archive the recipes. This is our first week and things look very promising! We are now 9 passionate cooks willing to take the challenge and play with the seasonal produce! Care to join? Post your recipes on your blog and instagram account with the hashtag #EatTheLebaneseSeason and we’ll regram the best recipes. We’ll be posting the coming week’s ingredient early in the week to give you enough time to prepare and shoot your recipes.

This week’s challenge is, *drumrolls* APPLES! Continue reading

Energy Balls and Another Clown Tour

Dates & Nuts power energy balls recipe - cookin5m2-PIN-2

Another clown tour. Tiring rehearsals and exhausting performances. A big thrill and tremendous amount of joy.

This time, we are supported by the Swiss Embassy to perform for children around Lebanon in selected locations. We began last week and we did five days in a row following one last full day of rehearsals a day before. Our first week was in the Bekaa. Our daily trip had a breakfast stop in the morning and late lunch stop and evaluation on the way back.
