Pan-fried Halloumi and Mushrooms, and Gigantic Pain Perdu Copycat Recipes From The Hangout with serVme

Today, I’m sharing 2 recipes in one post. I copied these recipes off The Hangout restaurant’s menu for you to try and replicate them at home. This is part of a new collaboration between Cookin5m2 and serVme where I will be sharing me experience with the chef, not my review because I don’t find myself qualified enough to dictate your taste buds, then share recipes on this recipe dedicated blog.

Mom and I cooked for a Palestinian brunch for a second time and we served another bunch of happy customers. There’s nothing more pleasing than people with happy faces after sharing a wonderful meal that is filling, healthy (sort of) and flavorful.

20 Vegetarian and Vegan Recipes to Cook During Lent

I’d like to take the opportunity and with those who are fasting a Blessed Lent.

I, myself, haven’t fasted in a few years and haven’t abstained from meats or dairies for longer. The thing is, I don’t usually cook with a lot of meats. Most of my recipes are either vegetarian, vegan, or can be altered to be either one.

For the son of a butcher, and a whole family of butchers, it is blasphemous for me to quit meats. I did quit red meats for2 years and I was given a hard time, even though I sometimes used to cook for myself or ask mom for a meat-less or chicken version of whatever she’s cooking. I decided to finally end it when I was tempted by mom’s spicy barbequed kababs. Now I am back to meats regularly. And allow me to say, a bit more than ever. I am a fan of beef burgers now, I ate barbecued meat, I have no problem with pork, and I enjoyed beef curries. Weird, isn’t it?

For now, I have not made up my mind whether I will be abstaining from a certain food group but for those of you who have, I present you with this list of 20 vegetarian and vegan recipes to cook during lent:

Meghlé (Spiced Levantine Pudding) and The Birth of More New Members

In case you didn’t know, we had a recent delivery at the family of 6 new members. It’s Olly, guys, Olly the cat. She gave birth to SIX CUTE KITTENS last Sunday giving us a shock for the number of kitten she had been carrying. Never a dull moment passed for Olly. She climbed the screen door, jumped on the street, played, went crazy and all sort of things a young cat would do. BUT SHE HAD SIX KITTENS GROWING INSIDE HER!!!

Pesto Fusilli with Grilled Halloumi and Tomatoes

When life gives you basil, you make pesto. Then mix it with pasta.

Isn’t it obvious? It’s basic.
They make a wonderful couple

Basil Plant and basic pesto recipe - Cookin5m2-3

For this fresh herbs sauce, use the type of pasta you like. It is recommended though to use one with dents and irregularities for the sauce to have something to hold on to.
